L-3 gets Army interpretation services subcontract

L-3 Communications Corp. has won a subcontract from Global Linguist Solutions to help supply translation and interpretation services in Iraq.

L-3 Communications Corp. has won a subcontract from Global Linguist Solutions to help supply translation and interpretation services for the Army and other U.S. government agencies in Iraq.

The New York company said it expects to make about $150 million through the subcontract. L-3 also said it has withdrawn a protest it filed with the Government Accountability Office contesting the award to GLS.

The Army Intelligence and Security Command awarded GLS a prime contract earlier this year to manage translation and interpretation services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The five-year deal is worth $4.6 billion.

GLS is a joint venture of DynCorp International and McNeil Technologies.

L-3 Communications ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
