Affiliated Computer Services Inc. and Ingenix have formed a strategic alliance to provide decision support technology for Medicaid management information systems used by state governments.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will work with each other to supply the technology for ACS' state MMIS projects. Decision support systems analyze data to help health administrators assess Medicaid program status, analyze health care policies, monitor budget trends and measure program performance.

ACS of Dallas plans to license its portfolio of federally certified decision support technologies to Ingenix, which will provide ACS' MMIS clients with its broad array of decision support methodologies, software applications and related consulting services.

Ingenix offers a modeling and analysis tool called Impact Pro for Care Management to help state Medicaid programs better identify and manage both chronic and acute health conditions. The companies currently provide the tool to Mississippi's Division of Medicaid.

Ingenix is a unit of UnitedHealth Group of Minneapolis.

ACS ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
