SAIC gets NASA technology services extension

Science Applications International Corp. has won a $205.9 million option from NASA that extends its contract for information technology services at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

This is the second of two priced option years of the Unified NASA Information Technology Services contract and raises its total value to about $956 million, SAIC said. The option runs through Dec. 31, 2008.

Under terms of the original award in January 2004, SAIC will provide IT systems and
services support to all NASA centers, including NASA Headquarters in Washington and the Russian Launch Facility in Moscow.

The option also calls for SAIC to provide the agency with a wide range of services that includes NASA's Integrated Enterprise Management Program, wide area network, IT security and digital television.

SAIC of San Diego ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
