Rome Research picked for Navy satellite work

Rome Research Corp. won a contract from the Navy to operate and maintain communications satellite systems for the Naval Satellite Operations Center.

Rome Research Corp. won a $33 million contract from the Navy to operate and maintain communications satellite systems for the Naval Satellite Operations Center in Point Mugu, Calif.

Rome Research will manage certain operations at four existing facilities operated by the Naval Satellite Operations Center, including locations in Point Mugu; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Prospect Harbor, Maine; and Finegayan, Guam.

The Naval Satellite Operations Center is responsible for operating, managing and maintaining a variety of strategically important satellite systems on behalf of the Navy. These satellites provide communications services to military forces worldwide.
