ACS wins Malta health care deal

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a $21 million contract from the Government of Malta to help better manage health care information.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a seven-year, $21 million contract from the Government of Malta to help the nation better manage health care information.

The work forms the first phase of the government's Integrated Health Information System project. The project seeks to improve the management of health care records and to integrate digital medical equipment in Mater Dei Hospital, the nation's largest health care facility.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will provide hardware, software and expertise needed to maintain laboratory information systems, image archiving and communications systems.

Furthermore, ACS will provide various products and services for diagnosis of patient conditions and supply the nation's medical professionals with the latest health care technology.

ACS Healthcare Solutions, one of the company's industry groups, has served more than 4,000 health care clients and has about 2,000 employees dedicated to information technology health care services.

ACS ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
