DSCI closes Viatech buy

Defense contractor D&S Consultants Inc. has completed its acquisition of Viatech Inc., a government systems engineering, information management and technical services company.

Defense contractor D&S Consultants Inc. has completed its acquisition of Viatech Inc., a government systems engineering, information management and technical services company. Terms were not disclosed.

DSCI said it plans to integrate Viatech into its government systems group and will operate as the information technology division.

Viatech is a provider of hardware and software systems solutions, telecommunications, and IT services and products. It is one of seven prime contractors supporting the Army's Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Sensors and Reconnaissance systems at Fort Monmouth, N.J., through the Strategic Services Sourcing contract. The total value of the contract for all seven firms is $19.2 billion.

As a result of the acquisition, DSCI will manage two multibillion dollar indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity awards, the World Wide Satellite Systems and the S3 contracts, said Steven DeChiaro, DSCI's chairman, president and chief executive officer.

Viatech of Eatontown, N.J., has about 150 employees.

DSCI, also of Eatontown, N.J., has about 225 employees and facilities in New Brunswick, N.J.; Columbus, Ohio; Somers, N.Y.; San Antonio; Huntsville, Ala.; Aberdeen, Md., and Orlando, Fla.
