Claraview gets Ky. education system assignment

Claraview Inc. has won a contract from the Kentucky Education Department to provide services to support a data system that will help meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.

Claraview of Reston, Va., will develop a data warehouse for the statewide longitudinal data system under the contract. The 18-month contract is valued at $4.1 million, said Lisa Gross, a spokeswoman with the Kentucky Education Department.

The warehouse will include demographic, assessment and financial data. It will allow the state to manage and analyze individual student data and enable it to add, search and query alternate sources of data.

The data warehouse will facilitate decision-making and help the state meet the reporting requirements set forth in the No Child Left Behind Act.

The data warehouse solution will supply results to teachers and administrators who will access it via a Web-based portal. Once it is functioning, the portal will serve as a knowledge-sharing and best-practices system for instructional materials and collaboration tools.

The ultimate goal is to use the data to improve teaching methods, interventions and school programs.
