ACS names Burlin COO

Affiliated Computer Services has named Tom Burlin executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Burlin previously was ACS' executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company's Government Group responsible for managing the company's business units for federal, state and local governments. He joined ACS in 2005 after a 26-year career with IBM Corp.

In his new role, Burlin will direct the daily operations for ACS' government, commercial and business process solutions groups. He will report to ACS President and Chief Executive Officer Lynn Blodgett.

Burlin's promotion reflects his experience and operational leadership in helping ACS grow, Blodgett said.

"He has had a dramatic impact on the growth and operational performance of the Government Group, and I am confident that in a broader role he will have a similar impact on the entire organization," he said.

ACS of Dallas has 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in 2006. It ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
