Picture this: Something for the kids

Each year AFCEA International's Bethesda, Md., chapter hosts a black-tie fundraiser for the Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health. This event has raised more than $1.6 million in the past seven years.

During this year's gala, Kristal Nemeroff, left, a patient at the National Insitute of Child Health and Human Development, spoke and sang at the event. She is being treated for osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic bone disorder.

The industry chairwoman for the event is Joanne Connelly, president of ConnellyWorks.
