Dell names Peterson to head civilian sales

Dell Inc. has hired Max Peterson as the vice president who will lead its federal civilian sales group.

Peterson previously was vice president of federal sales for CDW Government Inc. Before that he was vice president of the public sector for Commerce One. In that capacity, he worked with customers on design, implementation and operation of electronic commerce technologies.

Peterson's other career highlights include a vice president position at GTSI Corp. and various positions at IBM Corp. He also was a co-founder of Semaphore Inc.

Peterson holds a bachelor's degree in finance and a master's degree of business administration in management information systems from the University of Maryland.

Dell ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
