CACI to support DOD medical logistics
CACI International Inc. won a DOD contract to provide IT services for the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system.
The Defense Medical Logistics Standard is an automated information system that provides medical logistics, facility management and medical maintenance support for the Armed Forces at medical facilities worldwide, including field hospitals in Afghanistan and Iraq.The contract extends CACI's participation in the health care field and its role as a provider of DOD healthcare logistics, the company said. CACI has about 10,000 employees and had annual sales of $1.7 billion in 2006. The company ranks on Washington Technology's 2006 of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.

CACI International Inc. won a five-year, $16 million Defense Department contract to provide information technology services for the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system at Fort Detrick, Md.
Working with a DOD development team, CACI of Arlington, Va., will help identify ways to improve DMLSS services and provide quality assurance and documentation.
The contract covers five major areas:
- Modernizing business systems
- Creating an expanded database for users
- Providing more efficient integration of DMLSS systems into medical facilities
- Assisting users in accessing information
- Creating a medical logistics function that ensures that materiel reaches its destination promptly
