Yerks to lead CSC's new defense division

Computer Sciences Corp. has named Austin Yerks president of its newly formed Defense Division. In his new post, Yerks will provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the company's DOD business.

As Defense Division president, Yerks will report to James Sheaffer, president of the North American Public Sector (formerly known as the Federal Sector), which comprises more than 8,000 employees. The division supports CSC's Defense Department clients, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and defense agencies.

Yerks, who joined CSC in 1996, previously served as president of the company's Defense Integrated Solutions and Services division. Before that, he was president of Business Development for Federal Sector.

CSC also announced that David Browder is now vice president of the Business Development Division. In his new position, Browder will report to Mike Gaffney, president of the Business Development Division. Browder will be responsible for managing account teams as they pursue new business opportunities that support DOD.

Browder joined CSC's Federal Sector in 2003 and most recently served as acting vice president of the Federal Sector's Strategic Business Management organization, where he oversaw new business opportunities and proposal development operations.

Both of the divisions are units of CSC's North American Public Sector.

CSC of El Segundo, Calif., has about 77,000 employees and reported revenue of $14.7 billion in fiscal 2006. The company ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
