QNA closes Analex buy

QinetiQ North America has completed its acquisition of Analex Corp.

The company paid $173 million for the Fairfax, Va., provider of information technology solutions for defense, space and intelligence programs.

The purchase adds important new customer relationships within the U.S. security agencies, Defense Department and NASA, as well as broadens QNA's existing service offerings, the company said.

"Analex brings an incredible depth of experience in the intelligence market as well as a sharp focus on solutions for mission systems," said Duane Andrews, CEO of QinetiQ North America.

Analex has had long-term relationships with the Missile Defense Agency, the Army and Navy and NASA among other agencies.

The purchase expands QNA's group of U.S.-based companies that includes Foster-Miller, Planning Systems, Westar Aerospace and Defense Group and Apogen Technologies, which QNA purchased in 2005 for $288 million.

QNA also signed a definitive agreement this month to acquire ITS Corporation, a provider of IT services and solutions to federal agencies. The $80 million deal is expected to close by the end of April.

QNA is a unit of QinetiQ, one of Britain's oldest and largest technology providers. QinetiQ originated in the U.K. Ministry of Defence more than 50 years ago.

Apogen ranks No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
