Appointments

Barclay Butler and Mike Snyder joined systems integrator Apptis Inc., Chantilly, Va., as senior vice presidents for Apptis' health solutions sector. Butler, before retiring from the Army as a colonel, was CIO of the Army Medical Department. Snyder most recently was the deputy program executive officer for the Military Health System. Apptis also named as chief operating officer Rene LaVigne, who has been with the company for three years as president and general manager of its public and commercial sector. LaVigne previously was president of Northrop Grumman Corp.'s computing systems division.



Ted Hengst joined Harris Technical Services Corp., Falls Church, Va., as president. IT support services provider HTSC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harris Corp. Hengst most recently was senior vice president of Army solutions at General Dynamics Corp. His last assignment in the Army was as CIO at the U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base.



Matthew Jones joined Convera Corp., Vienna, Va., as chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary. Before joining Convera, Jones was CFO for Space Adventures Ltd.



Jeffrey Smith, former CIA general counsel, has been re-elected to the board of trustees for Aerospace Corp., El Segundo, Calif. Smith is a senior partner with Washington law firm Arnold and Porter.



Roderick Duke joined MCR LLC, McLean, Va., as chief operating officer, overseeing and directing growth of MCR's business units. Duke previously was COO of Analytical Services Inc.



Jason Furman joined the Brookings Institution, Washington, as a senior fellow and director of the Hamilton Project, launched in April to promote economic policies that can help strengthen the middle class and enhance broad-based growth and prosperity. Furman is a visiting scholar at New York University's Wagner School, and a nonresident senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. He previously was special assistant to the president for economic policy during the Clinton Administration.



Christina Motley-Saunders joined Vitech Corp., Blacksburg, Va., as director of marketing communications and brings more than 20 years of internal, external integrated marketing communications, advertising and public relations experience. Motley-Saunders previously was corporate communications manager of Advance Auto Parts Inc.



Marjorie Brown joined professonal staffing provider Hirestrategy Inc., Reston, Va., as senior director of the company's administrative and human resources practice.



E. Keith Thomson joined homeland security consulting firm Sentinel HS Group LLC, Vienna, Va., as a principal to lead the firm's World Customs Organization Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. Thomson was assistant commissioner for the Office of International Affairs at Customs and Border Protection.



Gina Drawdy joined SkillStorm Inc.'s government integrated solutions division, Vienna, Va., as vice president for intelligence solutions. Drawdy most recently was with Science Applications International Corp., where she ran an organization focused on supporting special access required customers.



Dennis Nichols joined Engineering Services Network Inc., Arlington, Va., as director of New England operations, working with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division in Newport, R.I., and other Defense Department customers. Nichols previously supported the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport Combat Systems Department, Code 25 as a senior manager and systems engineer for EG&G Technical Services Inc.



David Galvin joined eLearning developer Avilar Inc., Columbia, Md., as director of business development. Galvin most recently was a senior sales executive at eLearning content provider SkillSoft Inc.

At GTSI Corp., Chantilly, Va.: Cathy Finotti to vice president of financial operations; Denise Harrison to vice president of IT applications and information resources; and Kevin Brennan, Tom Kennedy and Chris Kiernan to vice presidents of sales.



At Catcher Holdings Inc., Hamilton, Va.: Denis McCarthy to chief financial officer of the company, which makes a ruggedized, wireless, handheld computer and communications control device



At Protocall Technologies Inc., Commack, N.Y.: Syd Dufton as president of the DVD-on-demand system maker's newly formed TitleMatch Entertainment Group.



At Elta Systems Ltd., a group and subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd., Ben-Gurion International Airport, Israel: Yosef Fouks to general manager of Elta's signal intelligence, electronic warfare and communications division; and Yosef Ore to general manager of the IMINT and radar division.



At BMC Software Inc., Houston: Chris Aherne to managing director of the company's federal government division; and John Milbank to director of the state and local government division.



At Social and Scientific Systems Inc., Silver Spring, Md.: June Mickens to chief administrative officer, providing executive oversight for four administrative groups: communications, facilities, human resources and IT services. Mickens replaces Mary Tondreau, who retired at the end of 2006.



At Affiliated Computer Services Inc., Dallas: Ann Vezina to chief operating officer of the company's commercial solutions group; and Tom Burlin to COO, government solutions group.



At Quality Associates Inc., Columbia, Md.: Elizabeth Kocourek to business development executive. managing direct sales for the company's information systems division.



At MCR LLC., McLean, Va., office: Jason Dechoretz to senior vice president of business development; Paul Shinderman to senior vice president of strategic planning and public relations; Christopher Neubauer to senior vice president for corporate operations; Dr. Neal Hulkower to vice president of operations; John Driessnack to senior director of the executive consulting group.
