NetWitness names new CEO
Amit Yoran, who was formerly DHS' national cyber security division director and CEO and advisor to In-Q-Tel, has agreed to join NetWitness management team as CEO, the company said.
A key Homeland Security Department official has accepted the job of chief executive officer at NetWitness Corp.
Amit Yoran, who was formerly DHS' national cyber security division director and CEO and advisor to In-Q-Tel, has agreed to join NetWitness management team as CEO, the company said. In-Q-Tel is the venture capital arm of the CIA.
Yoran also was co-founder and CEO of Riptech Inc., which subsequently was acquired by Symantec Corp. in 2002.
"Amit's vast experience with security from start-ups to the Department of Homeland Security provides an excellent backdrop for understanding how the network security market will develop in the future," Nick Lantuh, NetWitness' president said in a statement announcing the news.
Yoran will focus on helping the company grow both its government and commercial businesses.
NetWitness of Herndon, Va., specializes in network forensic analysis products that enable incident response, policy and regulatory compliance. Customers use its products for network content analysis, risk determination and other needs.
Its customer base includes law enforcement, intelligence, Defense Department agencies as well as Fortune 1000 companies.
