The Army ordered 32,000 radios and more than 30,000 power amplifiers and adapters and associated spare parts from ITT under the Sincgars Omnibus contract, an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with a potential worth of up to $2.5 billion.
The single channel ground and airborne radio system, or SINCGARS, is a combat radio system with voice and data communications capabilities. The system lets soldiers conduct military operations despite jamming attempts by enemy forces.
More than 310,000 of the systems are deployed in 33 countries around the globe, according to ITT.
ITT Corp. of White Plains, N.Y., is a global engineering and manufacturing company with both government and commercial customers.
The company, which has about 40,900 employees and posted 2005 revenue of $7.4 billion, ranks No. 16 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
