In a move designed to help it chase larger contracts, SI International Inc. has hired Leslee Gault as its chief marketing officer.

Gault also was named an executive vice president of the Reston, Va., company. She will be responsible for all corporate marketing activities such as strategic marketing planning, major program initiatives, bids and proposals and customer retention, SI officials said. She will report to Brad Antle, SI's president and CEO.

"Having a professional business developer with Leslee's experience will enhance our focus on major programs," Antle said.

Gault's hiring is part of the company's strategy to pursue multiyear contracts in areas such as IT modernization, defense transformation, homeland defense and mission-critical outsourcing. Antle said the company's goal is to grow organically by 10 percent to 15 percent annually.

The company wants to win more contracts like its recent 10-year, $138 million pact with the Patent and Trademark Office. SI will help the office with pre-grant publication classification services, the company said.

Gault most recently was a partner with IBM Corp. where she worked with intelligence agencies. She also is a former president and CEO of the Teradata division of NCR Government Systems. Other experience includes stints with Computer Sciences Corp. and Unisys Corp.

SI also promoted Patty Pickett as senior vice president of business development. She joined the company six months ago as a vice president.

SI ranks No. 40 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest government IT contractors.
