SAIC finishes Applied Ordnance Technology acquisition

Applied Ordnance Technology of Waldorf, Md., specializes in ordnance and weapons systems engineering and design, acquisition and logistics, environmental engineering, IT solutions and knowledge-based applications.

The newly acquired company has worked with Defense Department customers for more than 20 years. Applied Ordnance Technology, which was founded in 1984, now has more than 165 employees. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Applied Ordnance Technology's employees will transition into SAIC's Naval Maritime Solutions business unit within the System and Network Solutions Group. It will continue to operate from its present locations in support of current customers as the integration moves forward.

SAIC of San Diego, which has 43,000 employees and had annual revenue of $7.8 billion for the fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 2006, ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
