Gestalt brings unity to Army unit tracking

Gestalt LLC won a contract to develop a Web services-based tool that will track the status of more than 5,500 Army units in near real time.

Gestalt LLC won a $3 million contract to develop a Web services-based tool that will track the status of more than 5,500 Army units in near real time.

The application, called the Defense Readiness Reporting System-Army, will let commanders track via the Internet the readiness status and resources of all their units, no matter where they are in the world.

The application is part of the Army's efforts to modernize its readiness reporting procedures and to move to net-centric operations. It replaces a 20-year-old system in which data that would have taken hours to type in can be retrieved from databases in seconds.

Gestalt of Camden, N.J., offers management consulting and technology solutions to the defense, energy and utilities industries. In addition to its headquarters, the company has nine other offices in the United States as well as offices in Germany and Canada.
