New York re-ups CSC for Medicaid work

New York state will keep Computer Sciences Corp. for fiscal agent services with a three-year, $276 million contract extension to handle Medicaid benefits for citizens.

New York state will keep Computer Sciences Corp. for fiscal agent services with a three-year, $276 million contract extension to handle Medicaid benefits for citizens.

CSC processes annually more than 100 million Medicaid eligibility verification requests, 350 million claims and payments of more than $43 billion for New York Medicaid healthcare providers.

Through the state's Medicaid Web site, CSC supports eligibility verification and claims processing. The company also manages the program's data center, a statewide Medicaid provider telecommunications network and call center, and a unit that performs digital imaging and data conversion of paper documents.

CSC will team with Bull Systems Inc., Bellerica, Mass., which will furnish the data warehouse for New York's Medicaid program. CSC initially won the Empire State's Medicaid Management Information system contract in 2000.

CSC of El Segundo, Calif., has more than 80,000 employees and had $14.1 billion in fiscal 2005 revenue. The company ranks
