Saflink wins defense message system subcontract
Saflink Corp. has won a subcontract from Lockheed Martin Corp. to deliver continued support for Fortezza cryptographic libraries and drivers at the Defense Department under a new contract.

The contract could be worth $7.9 million if all nine one-year options are exercised, the company said.
The Kirkland, Wash., technology company has been a preferred provider of Fortezza card readers, software and support for the secure e-mail messaging system since the start of the Defense Message System contract in 1995.
Fortezza is a PC card developed by the National Security Agency that implements algorithms that provide security through verification, authentication and encryption. Developed for use with DMS, a number of vendors support the card.
Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., is the prime contractor on the DMS contract.
Established by the Defense Information Systems Agency for the DOD and related agencies, DMS is a secure application currently running at 270 military installations that furnishes e-mail messaging and directory services for military personnel.
