Perot Systems announces new government business chief

Jim Ballard has been named president of Perot Systems Corp.'s government services business, replacing Greg Bedner, who is taking what the company calls a "senior leadership" position to direct long-range government business development.

Bedner founded ADI Technology Corp., which Perot Systems acquired in 2002 to enter the government market. Perot Systems of Plano, Texas, was ranked No. 50 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list.

Ballard also was part of ADI and served as chief operating officer until being promoted to his new post.

Perot Systems' government unit had about $270 million in revenue last year and has more than 2,000 employees.

Ballard has more than 32 years' experience in naval engineering and program management, including serving 24 years in the Navy. He joined ADI in 1977. He holds a bachelor's degree from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School.
