ASIX of Bellevue, Wash., is the developer of a client/server based assessment administration and property tax billing and collection system known as Ascend that is installed in 16 counties in more than a half dozen states.

The company also provides professional services in connection with the sales of its property tax software. These services range from installation and training to project management and data conversion.

The acquisition will strengthen and solidify Manatron's national scope, said Paul Sylvester, Manatron's president and CEO. In the near term, the acquisition will give Manatron immediate access to substantial market opportunities for property tax systems at the local government level in California, he said.

ASIX is currently serving as a subcontractor to BearingPoint Inc. of McLean, Va., in connection with a $31 million project to develop a property tax and assessment system for the San Diego County.

Manatron of Kalamazoo, Mich., specializes in Web-based and client/server application software products for local government. The company has about 365 employees and had annual sales of $40.2 million in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
