SPI wins sensor software-engineering subcontract

SPI Inc. won a subcontract from Raytheon Network Centric Systems to assist the contractor in creating sensors for platforms under development in the Army's Future Combat Systems program.

Under a $2.7 million subcontract, SPI of Dallas will furnish software-engineering services for Raytheon's Ground Sensor Integrator and Sensor Suite Control project.

The particular project that SPI will support provides sensors and related solutions for group platforms that make up the Future Combat Systems program. These platforms develop sensor architecture and refine sensor applications. They also manage the acquisition, development and integration of data that the ground sensors generate.

SPI is a minority, woman-owned company that offers IT services to commercial, military and government organizations.

Raytheon Network Centric Systems is a unit of Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass. The company, which has 80,000 employees and had annual sales of $20.2 billion in fiscal 2004, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
