Raytheon inks Naval Air Systems Command support services deal

Raytheon Co. won a one-year option worth up to $70.2 million from the Naval Air Systems Command to continue providing support to the naval aviation customer base.

Under the contract, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC's supplies and services will include navigation and reconnaissance systems, aircraft support and mission planning, aircraft armament equipment and weapons data-link systems.

The award is the fourth of four one-year options on the contract, issued December 2001. The contract's maximum value, including all options, is $450 million. The contractor will do the work in Indianapolis.

Naval Air Systems Command can produce a variety of products and program-support services under the contract, including systems and software engineering as well as technical, manufacturing and lifecycle support. The command also can obtain in-service engineering, overhaul and repair, spares and integration.

Raytheon Technical Services, a unit of Raytheon Co. of Waltham, Mass., offers technology solutions for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide.

The parent company, which has 80,000 employees and had 2004 revenue of $20.2 billion, ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
