Nortel PEC Solutions has changed its name to Nortel Government Solutions Inc.

Last June, Nortel Networks Corp. completed its purchase of PEC Solutions Inc. of Fairfax, Va., for $448 million, creating a U.S. operation for Canadian-based Nortel to use to pursue U.S. government contracts for IT services and security.

Since the completion of the acquisition, the company has expanded its work with defense, homeland security and law enforcement agencies, said Chuck Saffell, chief executive officer of Nortel Government Solutions, in a letter announcing the name change.

In December, Lockheed Martin Corp. selected Nortel PEC Solutions as a subcontractor on the U.S. Census Bureau Decennial Response Information System project for the 2010 census.

That same month, Nortel PEC Solutions said it won a $21 million contract modification for the U.S Postal Service for another year of service and support, including continued development of an automated mail system for electronic acceptance, verification and payment systems.
