Northrop Grumman inks NASA software development deal
Northrop Grumman Corp. won a five-year, $30 million task order to provide the National Aeronautics and Space Administration with software services aimed at improving supercomputer efficiency.
NASA's use of supercomputers for things such as climate and space environment modeling will get a boost from a new contract awarded to Northrop Grumman Corp.
Under the $30 million, five-year task order, Northrop Grumman's IT sector will provide applications support to scientists using NASA high-performance computers for the Software Integration and Visualization Office at the Goddard Space Flight Center.
Northrop Grumman also will provide software development, analysis and scientific visualization services for NASA's modeling, analysis and prediction program.
Northrop Grumman will provide a range of applications services, and will improve software processes in support of the program office.
Work on the contract will be performed primarily at NASA Goddard and in Chantilly, Va.
Northrop Grumman's team on the task order includes Advanced Management Technology Inc., SP Systems Inc., KeyLogic Systems Inc., Enterprise Management Systems, and Earth Resources Technology Inc.
University partners include Morgan State University, University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Minnesota.
Northrop Grumman IT of McLean, Va., is a unit of Northrop Grumman of Los Angeles. The company has about 125,000 employees and annual revenues of $29.9 billion in fiscal 2004, ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
