Input hires veteran state government consultant

Thom Rubel, former META Group vice president of government strategies, is joining the Input Consulting Group.

Thom Rubel, former META Group vice president of government strategies, is joining the Input Consulting Group.

Rubel, no stranger to state and local governments, has more than 20 years of public-sector experience. At META Group, he advised state and local governments on ways to improve IT policy and operations.

Before joining META, Rubel served as director of the state IT program at the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices. In that role, he guided implementation of an IT program that included management and procurement, electronic government transactions, enterprise strategies and policy solutions. He also served as director of economic development and commerce policy studies and as the director of transportation programs.

Rubel also has held positions in the federal government, including assistant undersecretary for small community and rural development at the Agriculture Department, and deputy director of intergovernmental and consumer affairs at the Transportation Department.
