General Dynamics lands Air Force radio order
General Dynamics Corp. won a contract from the Air Force Special Operations Command to deliver 1,402 combat search and rescue radios.
General Dynamics Corp. won an $8.9 million contract with the Air Force Special Operations Command to deliver 1,402 combat search and rescue radios, the company announced.
The contract was awarded to General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va. General Dynamics ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal prime contracting revenue.
The AN/PRC-112G radio, the latest in the General Dynamics line of combat radios, provides terminal guidance, encrypted two-way messaging, satellite communications and global positioning system location capabilities.
More than 31,000 AN/PRC-112 radios have been manufactured and fielded by General Dynamics since 1980.
The combat search and rescue radios system provides direct line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications between downed personnel and their rescuers, broad communications functionality with manned or unmanned aircraft and communication with commercial and search and rescue satellite systems.
