IBM to acquire PureEdge

IBM Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire PureEdge Solutions Inc., a provider of electronic-forms-based business process management software and services, according to an announcement on PureEdge's Web site.

PureEdge is based in Victoria, British Columbia. Its government customers include the U.S. Air Force and Army and the National Institutes of Health, according to the Web site.

PureEdge offers business process automation frameworks to create, manage and deploy XML forms-based processes.

PureEdge worked with IBM on the WebSphere Portal. The IBM technology integrates with PureEdge XML-based e-forms. It enables users to work on e-forms either online or offline. They can save the work they've done, then revise it or review it later.

IBM is ranked No. 14 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
