Titan buys Intelligence Data Systems

Titan Corp. has acquired Intelligence Data Systems Inc. for $42.5 million, a move that strengthens its position among intelligence agencies.

Titan Corp. has acquired Intelligence Data Systems Inc., a provider of IT and professional services, for $42.5 million cash, the company announced today.

The acquisition of Reston, Va.-based IDS will strengthen Titan's position in the intelligence community market.

"Completing this acquisition marks another step forward in our long-term strategy of strengthening our core competencies," said Gene Ray, Titan's president, chairman and chief executive officer.

IDS serves a wide range of intelligence community customers by providing specialized expertise in data mining, high-performance computing, data analysis, information fusion and information sharing.

Titan plans to integrate IDS into one of its existing operating units serving the intelligence community.

San Diego-based Titan has about 12,000 employees and annual sales of $2 billion. The company ranked No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal prime contracting revenue.
