General Dynamics acquires Maya Viz Ltd.

Maya Viz Ltd. develops enhanced visualization and collaboration technologies that support real-time decision making, officials from General Dynamics said.

General Dynamics Corp. acquired Maya Viz Ltd., a company that develops enhanced visualization and collaboration technologies that support real-time decision making, officials from General Dynamics said.

Terms of the agreement to buy Maya, which has 55 employees, were not disclosed.

Maya of Pittsburgh has several military applications, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Command Post of the Future program, a decision-support systems that provides situational awareness and collaborative software tools to support joint-service military decision making, mission planning and rehearsals, and command and control.

The application is used by the Army's 1st Cavalry and 3rd Infantry divisions in Iraq.

"Maya Viz's products, services and capabilities are highly complementary to our existing networks, operations centers and computing platform offerings," said Mark Fried, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems, the Scottsdale, Ariz., business unit of General Dynamics of which Maya will become a part.
