More than a half dozen large systems integrators are considering whether to bid as prime contractors on San Diego County's IT outsourcing contract renewal this year.

"We have seven or eight teams interested" in the IT outsourcing contract, Michael Moore, San Diego County chief information officer said today at the MarketView 2005 conference in Falls Church, Va. The government IT forecasting conference is hosted by market research firm Input Inc.

The seven integrators weighing whether or not to pursue the deal as a prime are Accenture Ltd., Affiliated Computer Services Inc., BearingPoint Inc., CGI-AMS, EDS Corp., IBM Corp. and Northrop Grumman Information Technology, Moore said.

Accenture and IBM also are discussing whether to team with each other on the project, he said.

The seven-year contract is scheduled for award later this year. Moore said he has spent hundreds of hours over the past 45 days speaking with companies interested in the deal.
