Solutions for firewall issues

Polycom Inc. has released a set of video-aware networking and security solutions that solve firewall and network address translation problems for enterprises and service providers, company officials said.

The Polycom Voice Video Interface Unit solutions are scalable appliances that support communications between organizations and across the public Internet, said officials of the Pleasanton, Calif., company.

The appliances offer optimized bandwidth use with prioritized delivery of voice and video. The solutions also provide shortest-path routing of media directly between two endpoints rather than via a centralized server.
