BAE picked for FBI network operations work

BAE Systems North America Inc. has won a five-year, $38 million contract to provide network operations and engineering services for the FBI Enterprise effort.

BAE Systems North America Inc. has won a five-year, $38 million contract to provide network operations and engineering services for the FBI Enterprise effort, the company announced today.

Under the contract, BAE's IT unit in McLean, Va., will support FBI engineering and implementation efforts covering operational network components such as servers, e-mail and router switches. The company also will support engineering tasks in network fine tuning, enhancement and design.

The award was made under the Justice Department Information Technology Support Services-3 contract. The multiple award vehicle is designed to provide system development life cycle services to Justice and other federal agencies on a task order basis.

BAE's IT unit has 4,200 employees. Overall, BAE Systems North America has 30,000 employees and annual sales of $5 billion. It ranked No. 12 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
