Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a five-year, $10.5 million from the Louisiana Department of Social Services' Support Enhancement Services to provide a customer service center for the state's child support program.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will answer calls, deploy an automated voice response system and handle correspondence.

The company expects to handle about 280,000 calls per month from custodial and noncustodial parents, employers, district attorneys and state agencies. In addition to telephone inquiries, the center also will handle correspondence, such mailing of child support application forms and other documents.

The new automated voice response system will provide general child support information as well as case specific and payment information, the company said.

The center will be housed in the same facility in Baton Rouge where ACS currently processes child support payments for the state. It will be staffed by 29 employees and will begin operations in February.

ACS provides business processing and information technology outsourcing services to government and commercial clients. The company has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $4.1 billion.
