General Dynamics won a $5.8 million contract from the National Security Agency's Central Security Service to develop a wide area network procurement system, the company said today.
General Dynamics' advanced information systems division of Arlington, Va., will provide system analysis, design and implementation support for the agency and its suppliers.
During the first phase, which is expected to be completed by May, General Dynamics will provide an initial pilot for NSA and six contractors. Subsequent phases will extend connectivity to all participating facilities, while maintaining the NSA's strict access control models. This work for the future phases will be awarded under separate contracts.
Lockheed Martin Corp., the subcontractor on the contract, will assist General Dynamics with system engineering, architecture development and implementation.
Based in Falls Church, Va., General Dynamics employs approximately 71,600 workers worldwide and had 2003 revenue of $16.6 billion. The company is No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of government contractors.
