OMB takes on paper waste

The Office of Management and Budget is going after the paper pushers again, asking agencies to identify three initiatives that can reduce the paperwork burden on the public.

OMB wants to reduce by 1 percent, or 100,000 hours, the number of hours it takes citizens and businesses to provide departments with information. The administration is focusing on agencies that ask citizens for information that takes at least 10 million hours to provide each year, the bulletin noted.

OMB also handed out a to-do list of other paperwork-reducing measures it wants agencies to take.
