Fla. AG bashes outsourcing deal

Florida's Auditor General charged the state's technology office with failing to ensure proper administration of a statewide IT outsourcing contract held by Accenture Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, and BearingPoint Inc., McLean, Va.

The office failed to document its decision to outsource IT services, and then did not properly evaluate and negotiate the contract, the auditor general said.

The $324.7 million MyFlorida Alliance contract, signed in August 2003, neither adequately protects state resources nor documents cost savings to the state, he said.
