Florida re-ups ACS for Medicaid program analysis

Affiliated Computer Services will manage the daily operations of a Florida health agency's decision support system and offer onsite and offsite support and training.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a three-year, $10.3 million contract renewal from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to continue providing health information analysis and fraud and abuse detection solutions to the state's Medicaid program, the company announced today.

ACS of Dallas will manage the daily operations of the agency's decision support system and offer onsite and offsite support and training for state users.

In addition, ACS analysts will work directly with agency senior management to assess program status and policy analysis, monitor budget trends and measure program performance.

ACS has provided Florida with health information analysis solutions since 1999, when it was awarded a contract to design, develop and operate an enterprise decision support system and implement a fraud and abuse detection system. In 2003, Florida sought competitive bids for decision support services, and re-awarded the contract to ACS.

The decision support system allows the state to access and manipulate information to facilitate program planning, policy development and program assessment. The analysis gives Florida policy-makers information to develop up-to-date policy recommendations.

ACS offers government health care services to 29 states and processes more than 400 million Medicaid claims annually, totaling more than $50 billion in payments. It provides business processing and information technology outsourcing services to government and commercial customers. The company has more than 40,000 employees and annual sales of $3.7 billion.
