DHS unveils systems priorities

	The Homeland Security Department's IT team identified eight priorities for its 2004 to-do list, including information sharing, consolidating redundant systems and refining its enterprise architecture.

The Homeland Security Department's IT team identified eight priorities for its 2004 to-do list, including information sharing, consolidating redundant systems and refining its enterprise architecture.

Other priorities outlined by DHS chief technology officer Lee Holcomb include IT security, creating a single architecture, portfolio management and better oversight of IT operations.

As DHS officials consolidate systems, the total number of systems in the department might not decrease in proportion because elements of particular systems would be reused in other systems, Holcomb said.
