Jefferson Consulting Group buys Privacy Council

Jefferson Consulting Group LLC, a government relations and consulting firm, is acquiring Privacy Council, provider of privacy and data protection technology and services.

Jefferson Consulting Group LLC, a government relations and consulting firm, is acquiring Privacy Council, a Richardson, Texas-based provider of privacy and data protection technology and services, Jefferson announced today.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

With the purchase, Jefferson expands its capabilities into strategic consulting on data use and planning, conducting privacy impact assessments and compliance audits, advising on best practices and providing information on local, federal and international laws and policy.

The company will grow from 35 to about 50 employees. The Privacy Council's management team will stay with the expanded firm.

Since its founding in 1998, Privacy Council has specialized in several areas, including global data use, financial services, healthcare, telecommunications and emerging global regulation issues and laws affecting government agencies and private industry.

Based in Washington, Jefferson Consulting Group is a privately held firm that offers management and procurement consulting to the government and other services to the private sector.
