General Dynamics wins new submarine work
General Dynamics Electric Boat Inc. has won a $10.4 million contract modification for nuclear submarine work.
General Dynamics Electric Boat Inc. has won a $10.4 million contract modification for nuclear submarine work, the company announced today.
Under the contract, Electric Boat will provide design, engineering, material and logistics support for the Trident program, the two operational Seawolf-class submarines, the NR-1 Deep Submergence Vessel and Los Angeles-class ships.
Electric Boat also will offer planning, scheduling and technical support for submarine maintenance activities. The modified contract was initially awarded in 1999 and could be worth more than $742 million over five years if all options are exercised and funded, the company said.
The company will perform the work at Groton, Conn.; Bangor, Wash.; Kings Bay, Ga.; Newport, R.I.; and Quonset Point, R.I. Electric Boat plans to complete the work by March.
Electric Boat is a unit of General Dynamics Corp. of Falls Church, Va. General Dynamics has about 66,900 employees and annual sales of $16.1 billion. The company was ranked No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2003 Top 100 list.
