DeMuro to head GD's IT biz

General Dynamics Corp. tapped Gerard DeMuro as executive vice president of the Information Systems and Technology group. He replaces Kenneth Dahlberg, who is leaving to become chief executive officer of Science Applications International Corp.

DeMuro was president of General Dynamics' C4 Systems, a unit of the IT group. He worked in acquisitions positions at the Defense Department before joining GTE Government Systems, which was bought by General Dynamics in 1999. He holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh and master's in business administration from Fairleigh Dickenson University.

General Dynamics has about 64,600 employees. It was ranked No. 6 on Washington Technology's Top 100 list.
