Indiana taps Keane for welfare data support

Keane Inc. has won a two-year, $3.5 million contract from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to provide services and support for the agency's welfare data warehouse, the company announced this month.

Under the contract, Keane of Boston will provide application management, support and maintenance for the agency's welfare data warehouse.

The contract is designed to help the agency make welfare determinations more quickly and generate federally mandated Temporary Assistance for Needy Family reports, which ensures the state receives timely welfare reimbursement.

By processing these reports more quickly and accurately, the state can provide welfare compensation to residents faster, the company said.

Keane also won a supplementary contract with Indiana that enables the company to bid on smaller maintenance and development work and makes it a preferred vendor with the state.

These new contracts boost Keane's existing business relationship with the state. The company already provides maintenance support and development work for various Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act initiatives for the state and holds the state's Quantity Purchasing Award, which gave Keane another preferred vendor status for providing staffing resources.

Keane is a provider of business consulting, application development and integration and applications outsourcing to commercial and government clients. The company has more than 7,300 employees and annual sales of $873 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
