Georgia re-ups Maximus for child support enforcement

Maximus Inc. won one-year, $8.4 million contract renewal from the Georgia Department of Human Resources' Office of Child Support Enforcement to continue providing child support enforcement services, the company announced today.

The contract ultimately may be worth $42.6 million if the state exercises four, one-year options, the company said.

Under the contract, Maximus of Reston, Va., will provide a range of child support services primarily to families that do not receive benefits from the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, or TANF, program in six judicial circuits in the state.

The initial caseload to be served is 71,000, with an additional 25,000 expected to be transferred to the non-TANF program. Maximus will provide intake, location, paternity establishment, child support and medical support order establishment, order enforcement, review and adjustment of orders, interstate case processing and customer service delivery.

Maximus has been providing child support services in Georgia since 1997. Over the next five years, the company expects to collect more than $590 million in child support for families in the state.

Maximus, a provider of program management, consulting and information services to state and local governments, has more than 5,500 employees and annual sales of $518 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
