Air Force issues $1 billion RFP

	The Air Force has released a request for proposals calling for what could be up to $1 billion over 10 years in IT work at its Washington facilities. Responses are due July 28.

The Air Force has released a request for proposals calling for what could be up to $1 billion over 10 years in IT work at its Washington facilities. Responses are due July 28.

The proposal, issued through the Air Force Pentagon Communications Agency, calls for a range of services and products, including installation and maintenance of more than 1,000 software applications, and running a help desk, security services and network support.

The RFP was issued June 20, and the contract award is expected in December.

IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., has announced its intention to bid for it, according to Federal Sources Inc. Harris Corp., Melbourne, Fla., is also looking into the possibility of competing as a prime bidder, according to Sleighton Meyer, spokesman for Harris.
