Six Marine Corps sites have entered the assumption-of-responsibility phase in the transition to the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet.

Contractor EDS Corp. has taken responsibility for the operation and maintenance of information services at the Navy Annex, Marine Barracks D.C., Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., the Pentagon, Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters and Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga.

Last month, Marine Corps Base Quantico entered the AOR phase.

NMCI ultimately will link voice, video and data communications at more than 300 Navy and Marine Corps installations.

Additional AOR sites the Corps plans to start early next week include Training and Education Command sites at Camp Johnson and Camp Geiger, N.C., and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.

Contractor teams are collecting data about the Marine Corps sites' IT hardware and security and counting the legacy applications the bases' workers use.

Teams also are assessing the base area networks, LANs, and desktop PC and server environments, officials said.
