Abt wins $10 million in Iraq heath care rebuilding

The U.S. Agency for International Development has selected Abt Associates Inc. to help stabilize Iraq's health system infrastructure.

The U.S. Agency for International Development has selected Abt Associates Inc., Cambridge, Mass., to stabilize Iraq's health system infrastructure, Abt announced May 1. The work is expected to be worth about $10 million.

Under the contract, Abt will assess Iraq's health systems and provide emergency relief to citizens. It will also oversee more long-range duties, such as process improvement, disease surveillance and data collection for information systems.

Employing approximately 1,000 people, Abt Associates is an employee-owned company focusing on business research and consulting, as well as providing social and economic policy guidance, international development assistance and clinical trials and registries.

Since 1985, Abt Associates has worked on projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development in Ethiopia, Georgia, Jordan, Niger and Zambia.
