The General Services Administration issued a proposed rule Jan. 23 that allows state and local governments to buy off the Federal Supply Service IT schedule. Congress extended the use of the IT schedule through the E-Government Act of 2002.

The proposed rule covers the scope of cooperative purchasing, the terms of the contracts and which government entities can use the schedule.

GSA published the rule in the Federal Register. Comments are due by March 24 to http://www.GSARcase.2002-G505@gsa.gov .
